Geike Arnaert made a name for herself as the lead singer of one of Belgium's major-league pop acts, Hooverphonic, and recorded eight studio albums with the group before branching off to pursue a solo career in 2008. Born in Poperinge in the Flemish region of Belgium on 13 September 1979, Geike Arnaert displayed an affinity for music from a young age. In 1997, she decided to audition for Hooverphonic but left in 2008, teaming up with Dutch one-man project Spinvis two years later to work on the soundtrack of Breath (original title: Adem), a Belgian film about young people who suffer from mucovisidosis. The collaboration led the pair to release an album under the name Dorleac. In 2011, Geike Arnaert unleashed her own debut studio album, For the Beauty of the Confusion, which went to number six in Belgium, but it would be another eight years until the follow-up appeared. Lost in Time reached number three on the Belgium charts and in November 2020, Geike Arnaert re-joined Hooverphonic to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. A new single, "We Understand Each Other," also arrived in 2021.
