GEMS COMPANY is a Japanese idol group produced by Square Enix, with its operations and music handled by DEARSTAGE and MONACA respectively. The group is unique as it also engages in virtual activities, debuting as Virtual YouTubers in 2019, differentiating them from typical VTubers by focusing on real-world idol activities. Spearheaded by producer Yosuke Saito, the group aims to fill large venues like Nippon Budokan and Saitama Super Arena, embodying a fusion of virtual and live performance elements. The group was formed from a talent audition at the end of 2017 called Aspiring Voice Actress Audition, orchestrated by Square Enix and DEARSTAGE. Initially, eleven selected members started their activities discreetly without revealing their agency affiliations. Their existence as a Square Enix idol project was officially revealed in August 2018 during a Nico Nico Live Broadcast. GEMS COMPANY launched their regular broadcast Gemkan TV on Nico Nico shortly after their official announcement. The group saw the introduction of new members and the departure of others over time, marking significant milestones like their first solo live show Magic Box in 2019, and later Magic Socks during the Christmas season. Their progression continued with their major debut on Avex in October 2020, followed by various interactive fan events and successful concerts, culminating in their release "Hai to Inori"(2024) a testament to their evolving music and performance style.
