GFriend are a South Korean K-pop band formed by Source Music in 2015 with lead vocalists Jung Eun-bi, who goes by the name Eunha, and Choi Yu-na, who goes by Yuju, plus singers known as Sowon, Yerin, SinB and Umji. Their debut EP Season of Glass (2015) reached number nine on the South Korean chart followed by Flower Bud (2015), which went to number six. Other EPs include Snowflake (2016), which peaked at number two in South Korea and number ten on Billboard's World Albums chart; The Awakening (2017), which topped the South Korean chart and went to number five on the World Albums chart; Parallel (2017), which reached number three in South Korea and number ten on the World Albums chart; Time for the Moon Night (2018), which topped the South Korean chart and hit number six on the World Albums chart, and Sunny Summer (2018), which went to number two in South Korea and number 13 on the World Albums chart. Their first full album, LOL (2016) reached number three in South Korea and number seven on the World Albums chart and Time for Us (2019) went to number two in South Korea and number 12 on the World Albums chart. They have had several hit singles in South Korea with Time for the Moon Night (2018) reaching number three on Billboard's K-Pop 100 and Sunny Summer (2018) and Sunrise (2019) both at number ten. Their track 'Letter in My Pocket' is on the soundtrack of the 2016 animated feature Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel. They have toured across Asia and in 2019 they released their third album, Flower/Beautiful. Their 2019 schedule was to include a tour of Japan followed by appearances at venues in Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Taipei. In May 2021, the group disbanded after all six members left Source Music following the expiration of their contracts. Eunha, SinB, and Umji went on to form the group Viviz in 2022 under BPM Entertainment. In 2024, Source Music announced that GFriend would reunite for a special tenth-anniversary project, with a single album titled "Season of Memories" released on January 6, 2025, marking a nostalgic return for the beloved group.
