Giovanni Mirabassi

A self-taught pianist, Giovanni Mirabassi (born in Perugia, Italy, in 1970) cut his teeth playing with Chet Baker and Steve Grossman - at the age of seventeen - before trying his luck solo. Based in Paris, the transalpine musician began recording a series of critically acclaimed albums in 1996, including the revolutionary Avanti! released in 2000. Honored with a Victoire du jazz award in 2002, Giovanni Mirabassi has collaborated on a myriad of projects, while forging his own path as a soloist(Cantopiano, 2006) or trio member(Terra Furiosa in 2008; Live At The Blue Note, Tokyo in 2010). After the album Adelante! released in 2011, the pianist joined the Cam Jazz label, which released the live recording with string orchestra, Viva V.E.R.D.I . (2013), followed by No Way Out (2015), in a quartet featuring Stefon Harris, Gianluca Renzi and Lukmil Perez Herrera. The same year sees the release of Naufragés, the result of his collaboration with singer Cyril Mokaiesh.
