Pettisville, Ohio-based folk trio Girl Named Tom was formed in 2019 by siblings Bekah, Caleb, and Joshua Liechty. The group came to prominence when they became contestants on the 21st season of televised talent show The Voice and were announced the winners in September 2021. The trio of siblings had intended to enter medical school but chose pursuing music instead. Named after the brothers’ nickname that they gave their sister Bekah, Girl Called Tom released their first single, “Barrier Island”, in November 2019 and followed that with the Another World EP the following month. A little more than a year later, they issued their second single, “Backup Plan”, in January 2021. Their debut album, a collection of cover versions called Hits from the Road, was issued in February 2021. After several more singles, Girl Called Tom successfully auditioned for Season 21 of the popular American talent show The Voice. Making their first appearance on the show in September 2021, they chose to be part of coach Kelly Clarkson’s team. The trio was signed to Republic Records and released several digital singles over the course of the show. On December 14, 2021, Girl Named Tom were announced as the winners of The Voice and released a Christmas single, “No Snow for Christmas”, the following day. On that same day, a digital EP, The Season 21 Collection, was released that compiled the songs that they had performed over the course of the show.
