Gjon Muharremaj (June 29, 1998) is a Swiss singer-songwriter who performs under the name Gjon’s Tears. Born in Broc, Fribourg, to Albanian parents, Muharremaj first jumped into the public eye in 2011 by finishing third in the first season of the show Albanians Got Talent at the age of 12. After scoring his first Number 1 hit in Albania with the single “Babi” (2018), Gjon’s Tears auditioned and made the cut for the eighth season of the French music reality show The Voice: la Plus Belle Voix, reaching the semi-final as a member of Team Mika. In 2020, he was selected by the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation to represent Switzerland at the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Répondez-moi.” Following the cancellation of the live ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was announced that Gjon’s Tears would still be representing Switzerland in the contest in 2021 but with a different song. “Tout l'Univers,” written by Muharremaj with Nina Sampermans, Wouter Hardy, and Xavier Michel, was placed third overall and received the Marcel-Bezançon prize for Best Songwriting. The track was later released as a single, hitting Number 1 in Switzerland and entering the charts in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK.
