Go Ara is a South Korean actress, model, and singer. She was born on February 11, 1990, in Jinju, South Korea, and began her entertainment journey in 2003 after winning a modeling contest by SM Entertainment. Quickly rising in her career, she gained prominence with her roles in the television dramas Sharp #1 and Sharp #2. She also received critical acclaim for her part in Snow Flower. Go Ara's international appeal expanded through her participation in the MBC drama Who Are You?, contributing to the "Korean Wave". These high-exposure performances continued with Reply 1994 and You're All Surrounded. Besides acting, Go Ara debuted in the film industry with the big-budget Japanese film Genghis Khan: To the Ends of the Earth and Sea.
