Multi-talented R&B star Gregory Abbott has an impressive CV with a host of music industry awards to his name. Part Antiguan, part Venezuelan, Abbott is an accomplished singer, drummer, keyboard player, writer, producer and composer. It's a skill set which has brought the artist much critical acclaim and chart success including the platinum-selling, debut solo album Shake You Down, released in 1986. A student of Berkeley and Stanford, Abbott helped pay his way through college by playing gigs helping develop a distinctive style variously described as groove ballad or Wall St. soul. Following graduation he became an English tutor at Berkeley before deciding upon a career in the music business and establishing his own studio. During these early years he recorded an album which featured Abbott singing a duet with the late Whitney Houston. After the success of Shake You Down, Abbott continued to grow in stature both as a performer and a songwriter and during his long career has written material for a diverse range of artists including Jennifer Warnes, EQ, Emmanuel, Rosanna, Mona Lisa, Ronnie Spector and his former wife, Freda Payne.
