Grupo Galé

Sprawling Colombian salsa outfit Grupo Galé is a prolific and much-loved group. Steered by Medellín-born director and composer Diego Galé, the son of renowned bolero vocalist Jaime Galé, the band features three lead singers—Diego Javier Gonzales, Carlos Llamosa, and Charly Towers—alongside a rotating lineup of talented musicians who create a dynamic and intricate sound. Since its formation in 1989, Grupo Galé has continuously redefined Colombian salsa, blending traditional rhythms with modern influences that resonate across generations. Their music, recognized for its lively arrangements and deeply rooted Colombian identity, has positioned them as salsa ambassadors in Latin America and beyond. Throughout their career, the group has released numerous acclaimed albums, each capturing a unique flavor of salsa. Their 2008 album Auténtico earned a nomination for Best Salsa Album at the Latin Grammy Awards, a testament to their impact and artistry within the genre. Following this success, Instinto arrived in 2009, showcasing the band’s evolving sound, and in 2014, Después del Silencio marked another milestone, underscoring their commitment to musical innovation and continuity. After a brief hiatus, Grupo Galé returned in 2020 with Justa Calma, bringing together vocal talents such as Carlos Llamosa, Tatán Betancurt, Tiko Bermúdez, and Venezuela’s Marcial Isturiz. The album, celebrated for its fresh take on classic salsa, resonated with fans and introduced their music to new audiences.
