Lovingly dubbed by the media as “The Nation’s Daughter,” Guan Xiaotong (September 17, 1997) is a Chinese actress and Mandopop singer. Born into a family of actors in Beijing, she was encouraged to perform from a very early age and made her debut in the 2003 film Nuan when she was just four years old. In the following years, she achieved success as a child actress in the films The Promise (2005), The Treasure Hunter (2009), Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012), and Personal Tailor (2013). Her breakthrough came in 2015 when she played Jiang Jiao in the coming-of-age film The Left Ear, a role that earned her the Most Promising Actress award at the inaugural Gold Aries Award. Eighteen, her studio debut, saw the light later that year. In 2016, she starred in the hit series Papa Can You Hear Me Sing and To Be a Better Man, both of which enjoyed great popularity among Chinese audiences. Subsequently, roles in TV series like Xuan-Yuan Sword: Han Cloud (2017), Sweet Combat (2018), and Twenty Your Life On (2020) helped consolidate her status as one of the most influential actresses of her generation. In addition to her acting career, Guan Xiaotong has also contributed to several of the soundtracks of the series she’s starred in, including Novoland: The Castle in the Sky (2016), Once Again (2017), Love of Aurora (2017), and A Girl Like Me (2021).
