Gussie Miller

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Gussie Miller is a singer/songwriter with a five-octave rang and a long history of artistic collaborations. He was raised in the midwest, graduated from the Fort Hayes School of the Performing Arts in his hometown, then kickstarted his professional career by collaborating with fellow vocalist Gino Vannelli during the early 1990s. Miller sang background vocals on four songs from Vannelli's 1991 release, Inconsolable Man, including "The Rhythm Of Romance." He also appeared on Cher's Love Hurts as a guest singer, contributing harmonies to the track "Found Someone." After moving to Los Angeles, Miller briefly toured with R&B legend Lavern Baker and appeared on Baker's concert release, Live in Hollywood '91, before singing harmonies on Marcus Miller's Grammy-nominated jazz record Marcus during the late 2000s. Gussie Miller's first solo album, Forever Plan, followed in 2016, with a remix collection — The Last Page (S&S Remixes) — appearing in 2020. Although those solo releases failed to reach the charts, Miller's music continues to appear in television shows like Family Matters, Doogie Howser M.D., South Of Sunset, and Everybody Hates Chris. He has also joined numerous artists on tour, where he has appeared as a background singer for headliners like Seal, Janelle Monae, and keyboardist David Garfield.
