Guy Sebastian

Born in Malaysia, Guy Sebastian moved to Australia with his family while he was a child. He started singing at the age of 14 at the Paradise Community Church where his family were members. The experience gained by being a soloist with the church choir led to opportunities for performance both nationally and internationally. In 2003, Sebastian had his big breakthrough when he became the first ever winner of 'Australian Idol'. Since then he has had a glittering career, with nine top ten albums, two of them number ones and many top 20 singles. He has won a plethora of awards and been invited to judge several TV shows, the latest being 'The Australian Voice'. He has had 42 platinum and three gold certifications and has combined album and single sales of over three million in Australia. Following his success on 'Australian Idol', Sebastian's single 'Angels Brought Me Here' became the fastest selling song in ARIA chart history. It reached number one and was followed by his six-time platinum selling debut album 'Just As I Am' in 2003. A second album 'Beautiful Life' followed to similar acclaim in 2004, including the number one hit single 'Out With My Baby'. In 2006, his success continued with the album 'Closer to the Sun' which has also reached platinum status. Sebastian's fourth album was a collection of soul songs entitled 'The Memphis Album'. This was released in 2007 and in the same year, Sebastian sang a series of sell out concerts with the 60 piece Australian Symphony Orchestra in the Sydney Opera House and Hammer Hall in Melbourne. 'The Memphis Album' was another chart topper and was followed by a highly acclaimed Australian tour with the original members of the Memphis Band in 2008. Sebastian also co-wrote and performed the song 'Receive the Power' for Catholic World Youth Day in 2008. He is highly involved with charity work including the 'Make Poverty History' movement. He moved to America in 2008 to record his album 'Like It Like That' which was also a huge success, reaching number one in the Australian Album Charts. This was followed in 2010 with greatest hits album 'Twenty Ten' including the single 'Who's That Girl'. Both album and single went to the top of the Australian Charts and within four weeks had both reached platinum sales. In 2012, the album 'Armageddon' was released and Sebastian's tour of the same name was a sell out across Australia. The singles 'Don't Worry Be Happy', 'Gold', 'Battle Scars' and 'Get Along' were all released and met with huge success, particularly 'Battle Scars' which featured Lupe Fiasco and went straight to the top of the Australian Charts selling six times Platinum records and also enjoying success in New Zealand, Norway and America. In 2014, the album 'Madness' was released followed by 'Conscious' in 2017. In addition to appearing as a judge on Australia's X Factor, Sebastian also took part in 16 tours between 2004 and 2018 with an additional three joint tours and four others as support artist to world renowned artists such as Boyzone, Lionel Richie and Taylor Swift. He represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. His latest single 'Before I Go' will be part of a new album to be released in 2019. In addition to his musical career, Sebastian has also shown his dedication to charity work. He has been an ambassador for 'Australian Red Cross' and 'World Vision Australia' and has also set up a charitable foundation with his wife, Jules Egan, with whom he has two children.
