Ha Hyun-woo is a South Korean songwriter, solo artist, and frontman of the psychedelic rock band Guckkasten. He was born on November 25, 1981, in Jangsu, North Jeolla Province, South Korea. Largely raised in the city of Ansan, he began playing music as a teenager, performing in bands like New Unbalance and The C.O.M. before forming Guckkasten in 2007. The group released a self-titled debut album, Guckkasten, in 2009, followed by Frame in 2014. Frame was a success in South Korea, where it reached Number 6 on the Gaon Music Chart and spawned the radio hit "Montage." Two years later, the group earned a Top 40 single with "Pulse" and began work on an EP, Stranger, which reached Number 8 on the Gaon chart following its 2017 release. Meanwhile, Ha Hyun-woo began attracting attention for his work outside of the band, particularly his appearance on the TV show King of Mask Singer. He remained on the show for 18 consecutive episodes, becoming the longest-winning contestant in the program's history. During his time on King of Mask Singer, he also released multiple songs in conjunction with the show, earning Top 40 hits throughout 2016 with releases like "Dream of Freshwater Eel," "Lazenca, Save Us," and the Top 10 hit "Invitation to Daily Life." Ithaca, his debut EP as a solo act, was released in 2018 and climbed to Number 12 in South Korea. Two years later, Hyun-woo earned the highest-charting single of his career with "Diamond," a Number 4 hit that appeared on the soundtrack to the TV series Itaewon Class. He released a second EP, Anti Ego, in 2022, followed one year later by the single "Fighter."
