Hekiru Shiina, born on March 12, 1974, in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese voice actress and J-pop singer. Shiina made her debut as a voice actress in 1991, lending her voice to the character Tenko in the anime series The Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic, gaining widespread recognition in 1994 with her role as Hikaru Shidou in the popular anime Magic Knight Rayearth. This role solidified her place in the anime industry and led to numerous other voice acting opportunities. In addition to her voice acting career, Shiina pursued a successful music career. She debuted as a singer through Sony Music in 1994 with her self-titled album, and continued to delight fans with Top 20 records such as With a Will (1996), Baby Blue Eyes (1998) and Precious Garden (2001) as well as 10 Carat (2003), Rock Rose (2009), and Ermitage (2013). She has also released several charting singles including "Power Of Love/Reborn～On'na wa umarekawaru～" (Power Of Love/Reborn～女は生まれ変わる～) (2006) which peaked at number 45 as well as "Smash Up!!" (2011) and "Se tsu na" (セ・ツ・ナ) which went to 66 and 56 respectively. In May, 2024, the singer returned with self-cover album Harmony Star which climbed to number 16 on the Billboard Top 100 Albums chart in Japan.
