Henri Génès

Actor, humorist and singer, Henri Génébés dit Henri Génès was born on July 3, 1919 in Tarbes. He made his film debut in 1945, appearing in many films, including Au Diable la Vertu, La Grande Vadrouille and La fille des collines. In the 1950s, he embarked on a career as a singer with a penchant for humor. A prolific singer, he recorded over eighty 45s. His music is festive. His tango hits included "Tantina de Burgos", "Tango Bruxellois" and "Je sais (tango historique"), as well as twists such as "Mao Tse Twist" and "Le roi du twist ", and polkas such as "La polka du colonel ". He also released a number of albums, including Faire revivre les comiques troupiers , featuring "J'suis content, content " and "La Margoton du bataillon". 1959 also saw the release of a Bobino concert album. His songs have been reissued and compiled numerous times, up to and including Succès de Paris, released in 2021. He ended his career in the 1990s and died on August 18, 2005 in the Paris suburbs.
