Launched in the late 1990s, the career of French-Swedish Herman Düne has created welcome bridges between Europe and the United States. Often seen as Europe's answer to New York's anti-folk scene, the band has released a plethoric and fragmented discography and played a leading role in the development of the folk scene on the Old Continent. Having become a duo after Switzerland Heritage (2001) and Not on Top (2005), Herman Düne recorded the albums Giant (2006) and Next Year in Zion (2008) at their own pace. In 2011, their folk is tinged with a certain psychedelia on Strange Moosic. In 2013, David-Ivar Herman Düne became the artist Black Yaya.
