High Contrast, born Lincoln Barrett on 18 September 1979 in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, is a Welsh UK drum and bass producer who emerged in the early 2000s, known for his liquid funk productions. He quickly gained recognition for his innovative productions, logging breakthrough tracks such as "Return of Forever," released on Hospital Records as part of his debut album True Colours in 2002, and "If We Ever," which reached number one on the UK DnB chart in 2007. With a discography that spans multiple albums and collaborations, including vocalist Clare Maguire, London Grammar, and Tiƫsto, High Contrast has cemented his status as a pioneer capable of working across genres. Since the 2000s, he has notched up a stash of albums that include 2009's gold-certified offering Confidential and 2020's Notes from the Underground. 2024 saw the release of new LP Restoration, which revisits the liquid funk sub-genre of the early 2000s.
