Highasakite

Highasakite is a Norwegian band that mixes atmospheric synths with thundering percussion and modern production to form a dramatic backdrop for vocalist Ingrid Håvik. The band began in 2010 when Håvik met drummer Trond Bersu while studying at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory. Shortly afterwards they began working on their debut album 'All That Floats Will Rain,' released on the Riot Factory record label in 2012. Live shows followed with additional members brought in to play synths, percussion and brass instruments including the flugabone and tuba. Turning their attention to the American market, the band released the first five songs from their debut album as the EP 'In and Out of Weeks' (2013). Later in 2013, the band entered the studio to record their next album 'Silent Treatment' with the Norwegian producer Kåre Christoffer Vestrheim. Released in 2014, the album topped the Norwegian charts and broke the record for highest number of consecutive weeks at the top, staying there for over 92 weeks. The band also won several awards that year including the 'Spellemannprisen' (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammys) for pop group of the year. Third album 'Camp Echo' arrived in 2016, also topping the Norwegian charts. This was followed by the EP 'Acoustic Versions' featuring voice and piano arrangements of the singles 'Samurai Swords' and 'Golden Ticket.' In December 2016, the band was one of the artists performing at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo. Highasakite released their fourth album 'Uranium Heart' in January 2019.
