Hua Chenyu is a Chinese singer and songwriter who was born on February 7, 1990 in Shiyan, Hubei province, China; known for his powerful vocals, emotive lyrics, and blending of different genres. Beginning his musical education at a young age, he learned the flute at the age of 5, and later the piano; composing his first original song at the age of 12. In 2010, he moved to Wuhan to study pop singing at the Conservatory and performing as lead vocalist for the rock band Conseer. Gaining national recognition in 2013 after winning the Super Boy singing competition produced by Hunan TV in China, he released his debut album, Quasimodo's Gift in 2014, which charted at number 1 in Taiwan for several weeks, earning him several awards including Best Album, with the hit track “Let You Go” also taking the top position. Chenyu released his second studio album Aliens in 2015, which attained record sales figures and attracting international attention, particularly in the U.S. In 2017, he released his third album, H, with smash hit single “I Really Want to Love This World” selling over seven million copies within a short time. After a sold-out stadium tour, Chenyu released his fourth album, New World in 2020 and in December 2022, released a 7-track project titled 希忘Hope with lead single "向阳而生" reaching the top spot on the Chinese charts, further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the Chinese music industry.
