HYDE

Hyde, born Takarai Hideto on January 29, 1969, is a prominent Japanese musician known for his role as the vocalist of L'Arc〜en〜Ciel, VAMPS, and THE LAST ROCKSTARS. Initially a guitarist, Hyde's music career took off in earnest with the formation of L'Arc〜en〜Ciel in 1991. He has been pivotal in composing many hits for the band, including "HONEY" (1998) and "HEAVEN'S DRIVE" (1999). Alongside his band roles, Hyde launched a solo career in 2001 under the label HAUNTED RECORDS, exploring themes from soft rock to hard rock and alternative metal, showcasing his versatility across different musical styles. Hyde's solo discography includes impactful tracks like "evergreen"(2001) and "Angel's tale"(2001) and he has collaborated with numerous artists across various projects. His solo work initially focused on soft rock influences, but later embraced a more dynamic hard rock sound. He formed VAMPS with K.A.Z from Oblivion Dust, and together, they signed with the American management company 10th Street Entertainment to expand their reach internationally. In addition to his music career, Hyde has ventured into fashion with his brand SWITCHBLADE and has recently launched a new line, WaRLOCK, reflecting Japanese aesthetics. His latest release under his solo project is the album HYDE [Inside] (2024.)
