A hard-rock group formed by frontman A.M Saleem Abdul Majid in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, Iklim launched in 1989 and released its debut album, Satu Kesan Abadi, in 1990. Boosted by the popularity of the lead single "Suci Dalam Debu," the platinum-selling Satu Kesan Abadi became one of the biggest Malaysian rock albums of the late twentieth century, with follow-up singles like "Hakikat Sebuah Cinta," "Satu Kesan Abadi," "Sandiwara Cinta Semusim Ammarah Bujang Kota," and "Seribu Penghargaan" all becoming hits not only in Malaysia, but in Indonesia, too. Majid remained in the lineup for six years, releasing albums like 1991's Bulan Jatuh Ke Riba, 1992's Budi, and 1994's self-titled Iklim along the way. He temporarily exited the group in 1995, leaving Iklim to work with other vocalists on records like 1996's Salam Perpisahan and 1998's Pergimu Satu Tanda. The original lineup reunited in the early 2000s, with 2003's Bunga Emas marking the band's first album in years to feature Majid, Huzali Ali, bassist Mohd Salim, guitarist Umarul Mahdzar, and drummer Kamaruddin. After 2007's Nuansa, the group released a series of compilations and greatest-hits albums during the 2010s, then returned in 2020 with a new single titled "Mawar Kasturi."
