Ildebrando d' Arcangelo

This Italian bass-baritone has made a name for himself in the classical repertoire. He has sung under such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Georg Solti, Riccardo Muti, John Eliot Gardiner, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Seiji Ozawa. It is in Mozart's repertoire that the singer distinguishes himself. In 1996, he recorded Les Nozze di Figaro for Deutsche Grammophon with Cecilia Bartoli and the Wiener Philharmoniker conducted by Claudio Abbado. Charming and rather handsome, Ildebrando d'Arcangelo embodies eternal youth. His aplomb and the quality of his playing are reminiscent of a certain Ruggero Raimondi.
