Im Chang Jung

Born November 30, 1973 in Icheon South Korea, Im Chang-jung would become one of his country’s biggest superstars. After studying Theater and Film at ChungAng University, he landed his first film role in the 1990 war drama North Korean Partisan in South Korea. TV and film work followed for the next few years, and hen he added singer to his list of talents with the release of his debut LP, Already to Me, in 1995. He would work regularly as an actor and singer throughout the rest of the decade, scoring huge successes in 1997 with his award-winning turn in the action film Beat, and winning multiple awards for his single “Again”. His handling of technically difficult ballads became his trademark, and the audience responded awarding him with five consecutive top 5 albums from 1998 to 2001. He captured the Golden Disc Bonsong for the second time with “Reason to Wait” in 2001. His movie career continued, and he won the Best Actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards in both 2003 and 2008. He became a regular fixture on Korean TV as host of the talent competition show Superstar K in 2009. That same year he began another streak of 5 consecutive top 15 albums that stretched to 2019. During that time he captured multiple awards for Ballad of the Year. He released Love Should Not Be Harsh On You in the fall of 2020.
