The Filipino rock band IV of Spades formed in 2014 in Metro Manila, Philippines. Inspired by 1970s music and fashion, bandmates Zild Benitez, Blaster Silongam, Badjao de Castro, and Unique Salonga developed a blend of funk, pop, and rock that earned IV of Spades a record deal with Warner Music Philippines. The debut single for the label was 2016's "Ilaw sa Daan," followed by the hit song "Hey Barbara" in July 17. "Hey Barbara "was a hit, earning awards for "Best Performance by a Group Recording Artist," "Favorite Performance by a Group Recording Artist," and "Record of the Year" and the 2018 Awit Awards. IV of Spade's third single, "Where Have You Been, My Disco," won "Music Video of the Year" at the same show. Beginning in 2018, the band began releasing music from its debut album, with songs like "Bawat Kaluluwa" becoming radio hits in the band's homeland. These new releases also marked the band's first recordings to feature Benitez in the frontman position, with band's original lead singer, Unique Salonga, leaving the group to pursue a solo career. ClapClapClap!, IV of Spades' full-length debut album, arrived in January 2019 and was named "Album of the Year" at the Awit Awards one year later. After releasing the singles "Ang Pinagmulan" and "Sariling Multo (Sa Panaginip)" in 2020, IV of Spades announced their hiatus later that year. Two years later, they reunited and released the single "Come Inside of My Heart."
