Ivete Maria Dias de Sangalo, better known as Ivete Sangalo, was born on May 27, 1972, in Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil. As a schoolgirl, she was drawn to the world of music, and began singing as well as learning the guitar. She made her stage debut at the age of 20 in Ondina, Salvador, and in August 1992 won the Dorval Caymmi trophy, considered the Grammy of Bahia music. The following year, she joined the axé group Banda Eva and became its star, earning her stripes as a star thanks to her stage charisma and powerful voice. After several albums with Banda Eva, she embarked on a solo career in 1997, releasing her first opus, soberly entitled Ivete Sangalo, featuring the hits "Se Eu Não Te Amasse Tanto Assim" and "Canibal". Her second album, Beat Beleza, was released in 2000, with "Pererê " and "A Lua Que Eu Te Dei" as her most reliable ambassadors. Two years later, she released her most popular track, "Festa", from the album of the same name. Although Clube Carnavalesco Inocentes em Progresso struggled to attract fans in 2003, the singer resumed her success with As Super Novas, No. 20 in 2005. She did even better in the charts with the albums Pode Entrar: Multishow Registro (#4 in 2009) and Real Fantasia (#7 in 2012). She has also released numerous compilations, such as Novo Millenium (no. 7 in 2005) and Perfil (no. 3 in 2008), and live recordings, including Ivete Sangalo Ao Vivo no Madison Square Garden (no. 9 in 2010) and Chega Mais (Ao Vivo) in 2023, which includes the track "Batucada (Ao Vivo)" (no. 83). In 2023, Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo celebrated 30 years in the music business with the Ivete 3.0 project and released the Reivete-se EP, featuring the track "Macetando " in collaboration with Ludmilla, which reached the top of the Spotify charts in Brazil in 2024. On May 25, 2024, she performs at Lisbon's Arena MEO as part of this anniversary tour. She also leaves Universal Music after 29 years to found her own label, IM Music, distributed by Altafonte. In 2025, Ivete Sangalo releases the live EP O Verão Bateu Em Minha Porta, which includes the hit "Energia de Gostosa" .
