After gaining attention online for his blend of electro-pop with R&B elements, English musician and producer Jack Garratt officially launched his career in the mid-2010s. Born in High Wycombe, England, on October 11, 1991, Garratt debuted on Island Records with the Remnants EP in 2014, followed by Synesthesiac six months later. These whet the public’s appetite for his first full-length album, Phase, which arrived in 2016. Phase was a hit both critically and commercially in Garratt’s home country, landing at Number 3 on the album charts in the UK and earning him the Critics’ Choice Award at the BRIT Awards and Introducing Artist of the Year honors from BBC Radio. A follow-up to Phase was in production before Garratt scrapped the sessions and took some time away from his own music. In the meantime, he co-wrote and co-produced the song “Power” on Katy Perry’s 2017 album Witness. Garratt was coaxed back into the studio by producer Jacknife Lee a few years later, which resulted in the two Love, Death, & Dancing EPs. They were combined into one collection in 2020 for Garratt’s second proper album, and illustrated Garratt’s newfound confidence, with an emphasis on self-care.
