A legendary figure of reggae and its golden age, Jacob Miller was born on May 4, 1952 in Mandeville, Jamaica. Although some sources cite 1955 or even 1960 as his year of birth, he is best known as the singer and leader of Inner Circle from 1974 until his accidental death in 1980. His less consistent solo career is nevertheless credited with a masterpiece with Who Say Jah No Dread produced in 1975 by Augustus Pablo, with King Tubby at the helm and a team of heavyweights of the genre. Dread Dread and Jacob "Killer" Miller in 1978, Wanted in 1979, and the posthumous Mixed Up Moods in 1980 are less consistent. It wasn't until 2000 that tracks recorded by producer Joe Gibb were released on the album I'm Just a Dread.
