A saxophone prodigy, James Carter was just 22 when he caused a sensation with his debut album JC on the Set in 1993. Styles vary from recording to recording, from the standards of Conversin' with the Elders (1995) to the funky Layin' in the Cut (2000). This first-rate collaborator, who has played for the likes of Frank Lowe and Madeleine Peyroux, released the remarkable Heaven on Earth in 2009.
