Jamison Ross

A jazz artist who has significant skills as both a singer and a drummer, Jamison Ross was born on 12 November 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was directing the musical endeavors of his father’s church while just a teenager and went on to acquire bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music. The documentary Chops captured his triumph at a major high school jazz competition at Lincoln Center and led to him working with such established artists as Ramsey Lewis and Carmen Lundy, the latter inviting him to become her full-time drummer. After winning the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2012, Ross signed a record deal and issued his first LP, Jamison, in 2015. The album displayed his knack for bringing R&B and soul influences to his original jazz compositions and was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the 58th Grammy Awards. His 2018 follow-up, All For One, showcased his soulful singing voice on a collection of songs drawn primarily from some of the biggest names in jazz history including Arthur Kent, Mose Allison, and Allen Toussaint, as well as one track from Ira Gershwin and a smattering of Jamison Ross originals. His third album Jamo arrived in 2022 followed by the "Say You Love Me" single in 2024.
