Jan Lisiecki

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on March 23, 1995, Jan Lisiecki is a piano prodigy of Polish descent. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and made his orchestral debut just four years later at the 2004 Mozart Competition. At the age of 13, after close to one hundred performances in Canada, he was invited to the 2008 Chopin and his Europe Festival in Warsaw, Poland, and became an instant sensation. He returned to the festival the following year, which then led to the recording of his 2010 debut album Chopin: Piano Concertos No. 1 and No. 2., which was a critical and commercial success, winning France’s esteemed Diapason d’Or Découverte award. Jan Lisiecki then signed a recording contract at the age of 15 with Deutsche Grammophon. After finishing his schooling in 2011, he embarked on many live performances around the world, working closely with most famous orchestras and conductors. His first release for Deutsche Grammophon was Mozart: Piano Concertos K 466, No. 20, in D minor and K 467, No. 21, in C Major (2012), which was followed by Chopin: Études (2013). His fourth album, Schumann: Piano Concerto and Concert Pieces Op. 92 & 134 (2016), entered the Top 20 on the Billboard Classical Albums chart. Jan Lisiecki continued to perform over 100 concerts annually as well as release acclaimed albums including Chopin: Works for Piano and Orchestra (2017), Mendelssohn (2019), and the Diapason d’Or-winning Beethoven: Lieder – Songs (2020).
