Jang Hyun-seung is a South Korean singer best known for his time with the boy group Beast. He was born on September 3, 1989, in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province. His early musical career began when he auditioned for YG Entertainment at 15, eventually training with the boy group Big Bang, though he did not debut with them. In 2009, he debuted with Beast under Cube Entertainment. With Beast, Hyun-seung contributed to three Korean albums and nine extended plays, earning wide acclaim, including the Artist of the Year award at the 2011 Melon Music Awards. In December 2010, he co-wrote and composed an R&B track with fellow Beast member Lee Gi-kwang for their digital album My Story. Jang Hyun-seung expanded his horizons in December 2011 by forming the duo Trouble Maker with 4Minute's Hyuna, releasing the successful extended play Trouble Maker and its hit single title track. Hyun-seung debuted as a solo artist in 2015 with the release of his EP My (2015), a departure from Beast's style with hip-hop influences in tracks like "Ma First." He also ventured into musical theater, performing in Mozart! in 2012 and Bonnie & Clyde in 2014. In 2016, Jang Hyun-seung left Beast to pursue a solo career and was nominated and won Best Male Artist (South Korea) at the 4th V-Chart Music Awards in China. He joined the dance competition program Hit the Stage that July. After completing his military service in March 2020, Jang Hyun Seung released the digital single "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" in December of that year, followed by "Feeling" (2022) and "Daisy" (2023) with Han Yo Han.
