A Canadian country artist from Stephenville, Newfoundland, Jason Benoit launched his career in 2013 with a cover of the dance-pop hit "This Is What It Feels Like." The song's original recording had been a Top 10 hit in Canada, with Benoit's cover reaching Number 46 on the Canadian Country chart. Capitalizing on that momentum, he signed a record deal with Sony Music Canada and released his major-label debut single, "Crazy Kinda Love," in 2014. The song peaked at Number 29 on the country charts in Canada and was followed by two additional Top 30 hits — the gold-certified "Gone Long Gone," which peaked at Number 7, and "Cold Day Comin'," which reached Number 21 — in 2015. Benoit received the "Discovery Atlantic Award" at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards later that year. Another song, "All Wanna Party," climbed to Number 23 in 2016. The majority of those singles also appeared on his debut album, Waves, which arrived in 2017 and received a nomination for "Country Album of the Year" at that year's ECMA Awards. The songs "Slow Hand" and "Forget to Forget" were released in 2018, and Jason Benoit returned the following year with another album, Revolution Part 1. His third record, Time Traveller - Side A, followed in 2022, featuring the Top 50 single "Shootin' Me Down."
