Born in Hong Kong on July 20th, 1983, Jason Chan Pak-Yu (陳柏宇) grew up in Ontario with his Canadian mother before returning to his place of birth and taking the local music charts by storm. After impressing in a Canadian talent show, the Cantopop singer-songwriter, actor and businessman returned to Hong Kong, signing to Sony in 2006. They released his debut single, “Stubborn”, later the same year, which entered the RTHK radio charts at number three. The track served as the lead single from his 2007 debut album, First Experience, which yielded several more hits including the chart-topping deluxe bonus track “Maintain Forever”. He also made his acting debut in 2007, appearing in the TV show Colours of Love, which would mark the start of a run of high-profile roles in dramas, romantic comedies and musical series. After bagging various coveted newcomer awards for his music, he returned with a second LP, Change, in 2008. The project’s lead single, “I Miss You”, featured guest vocals from Fiona Fung and was another RTHK number one, and its third single, the Rainie Yang collaboration “Logic and Feelings", proved a hit in Malaysia, reaching the top spot on the 988FM chart. Chan has since continued to have a long and illustrious career, with over twenty of his singles peaking at number one on various charts. His 2015 single “A Look and a Smile”, taken from the album Escape, was his first to reach number one on all four of the Hong Kong radio charts, marking a career high. In 2020, he returned with a run of new singles including the hit “Affection (感情這回事)”.
