Jaswinder Singh

New age ghazal singer Jaswinder Singh was born in Mumbai, India. Known for his mesmerizing voice, he is the son of Kuldeep Singh, a well-known composer of ghazals, which is a poetic expression of loss or separation that originated in Arabic poetry. His father’s music has been featured in Hindi (aka Bollywood) films such as Saath-Saath and Ankush. After receiving classical singing training from Dr. Sushila Pohankar and Pt. Ajay Pohankar, he began his career singing ghazals in 1993. He came to prominence for albums such as Aage Aage Dekhiye (2001), Dilkash (2002), Ashq (2015), Beete Lamhe (2015), Tum Bhi Na (2015), and Khwabeeda… A Dream Begins (2018). His most popular songs include “Maujood Hain” (from the 2008 compilation Teri Justajoo), “Bahut Yaad Aate Ho Tum” with Ram Sampath (2012), “Bhagat Singh” with Randy Jassal (from the 2012 compilation Jakara), “Raanjhanaa” (from the 2013 film Raanjhanaa), “Raanjhanaa – Lofi Flip” (2021), and “Tulsi Chaupai” (2022). Jaswinder Singh has also performed in theater productions including the play Kaifi Aur Main, which was a production based on the life of poet Kaifi Azmi, and Ghalibnaama, a similar show focusing on Mirza Ghalib.
