Formed in 2012, Javed-Mohsin is a Bollywood Hindi film music duo comprised of cousins Javed Khan and Mohsin Shaikh. They both came from creative families – Javed Khan’s father was table player Late Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan and Mohsin Shaikh’s father is writer Mustafa Shaikh. The duo’s maternal grandfather was Padamshri Ustad Fayyaz Ahmed Khan Sahab of Kirana Gharana, who remains a legendary name in the world of Indian classical music. Before they started their professional career, the cousins would spend many hours after school playing together. In 2012, they chose to pursue music as a duo and began composing for radio and television adverts. Three years later, they recorded "Dj Bajega Toh Pappu Nachega", their first Bollywood composition, for the film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. This led to more songs in other Bollywood films including 2017’s “Ding Dang” (from Munna Michael) and “Maala Seenha” (from Julie 2). In 2018, they provided the song “Pal” to the soundtrack of Jalebi. For the 2019 film Drive, they provided two tracks: “Black Car” and “Tu Jaanta Nahi”. Javed-Mohsin also provided songs for the 2019 album Dil Mera Blast by Darshan Raval. In 2020, they provided material for albums by Jubin Nautiyal and Payal Dev. The 2020 movie Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari featured four songs penned by the duo. In 2021, they wrote the song “Kabhi Tumhe” for the film Shershaah. Two versions of the song were included in the film – one sung by male vocalist Darshan Raval and one by female vocalist Palak Muchhal.
