The Chilean electro pop artist Javiera Mena was born in Santiago in 1983 and began performing in public whilst still a student studying at university. Her musical career gathered momentum slowly with the artist promoting herself on early social media sites such as Myspace. Her debut album 'Esquemas Juveniles' was released in 2006 by the indie label Entre Rios and received widespread critical acclaim in the music press. The album marked her transition from being an acoustic-based performer into an electronic music artist and set the theme for future recordings. Her follow-up album 'Mena' was four years in the making and upon its release in 2010 became an immediate success throughout Latin America. Another four years passed until the release of Mena's third album 'Otra Era' in 2014 and its distinctively retro sound production proved popular amongst club goers and live audiences. Mena promoted the album with an extensive tour throughout Latin America and beyond, entertaining audiences in Spain, Mexico and Peru, establishing herself as one of Chile's most significant musical exports.
