JAY'ED is the stage name of Jade Goto, the Kiwi-Japanese singer best known for chart-topping singles like "Ashita ga Kuru Nara" and "Tsutaetai Koto ga Konna Aru noni." He was born on September 16, 1981, in Invercargill, New Zealand. His father was Japanese and his mother was a native New Zealander of Aborigine descent, and the family lived in New Zealand for a decade before moving to Osaka. A talented vocalist from a young age, JAY'ED made his solo debut with the single "Why?" in 2005. He released an independent album, The Gift, in 2008, then signed with the label Toy's Factory before releasing his major-label debut, Musication, in 2009. Musication featured four Top 40 hits, with the album itself reaching number 6 on the Oricon Albums Chart. While Musication's singles continued to enjoy radio airplay in 2009, JAY'ED partnered with J-pop vocalist for the collaborative single "Ashita ga Kuru Nara," which appeared in the movie April Bride and hit number 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. He also appeared on Infinity 16's "Tsutaetai Koto ga Konna Aru Noni," which became his second number 1 hit of 2009. JAY'ED's third album, Your Voice, reached number 20 in 2011, with 2017's Here I Stand climbing to number 23. He collaborated with multiple artists throughout the decade, too, teaming up with Ms.OOJA for 2014's "Mata kimi to" and performing alongside Red Diamond Dogs on 2018's "Red Soul Blue Dragon," which hit number 4 on the Oricon Singles chart.
