Born on December 28th, 1989 in Killarney, Kerry, Jessie Buckley is an award-winning Irish actor and singer known for her arresting voice and ability to captivate on both stage and screen. She began her career on BBC TV talent show I'd Do Anything in 2008, impressing in her role as Oliver Twist protagonist Nancy and finishing in second place. This opened up a world of theatre opportunities later that year she made her West End debut in a revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music. She went on to study at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and after graduating in 2013, landed her first television role in the detective drama series Endeavour, later playing Marya Bolkonskaya in the BBC's 2016 dramatisation of War and Peace. She continued to build on her acting CV with a number of key film and television appearances, portraying Marian Halcombe in the five-part television adaptation of Wilkie Collins' novel The Woman in White (2018) and showing off her singing voice as aspiring country singer Rose-Lynn Harlan in 2017’s country music drama Wild Rose (2017), which led to a gig performing music from the film at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival. She also received a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards. She mixed music with film again to portray Judy Garland in the 2019 biopic Judy and in 2022 launched her own musical career, with the assistance of Suede guitarist and acclaimed British singer-songwriter Bernard Butler. The pair released their debut album, the dark country-folk collaboration For All Our Days That Tear the Heart, in June 2022, preceded by the first single "The Eagle & The Dove". Produced by Bernard Bulter, the LP reached number 23 on the UK Albums Chart.
