Jesy Nelson

With her world-dominating girl group Little Mix, Jessica Louise Nelson aka English singer Jesy Nelson (born on June 14, 1991 in Romford, England) ruled the British pop roost for nearly a decade. Forming on the eighth series of The X Factor in 2011, Little Mix were the first group to be crowned winners of the UK version of the series. Over the next nine years, they went on to release six studio albums – including their 2012 debut DNA, which reached the Top 5 on the US Billboard 200 and 2020's Confetti, which reached Number two on the UK Albums Chart – and notching up five chart-topping singles on the UK Singles Chart as well as three BRIT Awards. In 2019, Jesy Nelson presented a record-breaking BBC Three documentary based on her experiences with body image and online bullying titled Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, which won the Factual Entertainment Award at the 25th National Television Awards. She announced her departure from Little Mix on November 17, 2020, revealing that she would be taking an extended hiatus for medical reasons. She signed with Polydor Records that year and released her debut solo single "Boyz" featuring Nicki Minaj in October 2021, which was at the time rocked by accusations of "blackfishing," a form of cultural appropriation.
