JK Kim Dong Uk

JK Kim Dong Wook, born Kim Dong Wook on December 11, 1975, is a Korean-Canadian singer active in South Korea. He initially debuted as a singer in 1996 at an underground live club in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Gaining prominence in South Korea, he won the gold prize at SBS Net Music 2000 in 2000 and became known for his songs featured in film and drama OSTs, such as "Letter" in the movie My Wife is a Gangster and "Foolish Love" in the drama Man in Crisis. His official music career in Korea started with his first studio album, LifeSentence, released in 2002. While it was thought that the initials "JK" were derived from his baptismal name, Joachim, and a neighbor named Kate, JK clarified in a recent appearance on Ask Us Anything that "JK" actually stands for John Kim, a name he used while in Canada.
