Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus (born on May 21, 1997 in Lagos State), known by the stage name Joeboy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who blends Afrobeats with R&B and pop. After catching the ear of Nigeria's entrepreneurial VIP Mr. Eazi, he soon found a national audience with the Mr. Eazi-featuring track "Fààjí" in October 2018, using funding from Mr. Eazi's emPawa100 initiative to shoot a video for the song. This set the stage for a glittering follow-up, "Baby" which was released in 2019 and lit up the various online channels as well as shooting to Number 1 in Nigeria and Uganda. The Killertunes-produced track, "Beginning", followed, which scooped Top 10 positions in several countries including Ghana and Kenya. Released on emPawa, his debut EP, Love & Light, came in November 2019, featuring the lead single "Don't Call Me Back" with Mayorkun. That year, Joeboy picked up the Best Artiste in African Pop gong at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards, and the Best Pop prize at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. He was also nominated for a number of City People Entertainment Awards, as well as receiving four nods at The Headies. Joeboy's debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic, was released in 2021, followed by the Number 1 "Sip "Alcohol", ahead of the next full-length Body & Soul (2023), also featuring "Contour", the title-track (Number 8), and "Duffel Bag" (Number 9). In February 2024, Joeboy launched his own label Young Legend, in collaboration with Warner Music Africa. He participated to Michael Brun's "Game Over" and Ofenbach's "1:1", before the release of his third album Viva Lavida (2025), featuring the hit "Free of Charge" with Olamide and other duets with Tempoe, Elena Dara, Qing Madi, and Wizard Chan.
