Born in New York City, New York in 1972, Jonathan Kreisberg is a jazz guitarist, composer, and educator. After his family moved to Miami, Florida, he started playing guitar at the age of 10. He was admitted to the New World School of the Arts at the age of 16. Focusing on his jazz studies, he committed himself to learning to master the guitar. He won a scholarship to the University of Miami where he occupied the guitar chair in the Concert Jazz Band. He attended the school from 1990 to 1994, touring Brazil with the band and playing with Michael Brecker, Joe Henderson, and others. After graduating, he returned to New York City to pursue music as his career. Since his arrival back in his hometown, he has worked with many jazz greats including Dr. Lonnie Smith, Lee Konitz, Joe Locke, Jane Monheit, Yosvany Terry and many others. Jonathan Kreisberg’s debut album as a leader, Third Wish, was released in 1995. Other albums in his catalog include Jonathan Kreisberg Trio (1996), Trioing (2002), Nine Stories Wide (2003), Unearth Me (2005), Night Songs (2009) Wave Upon Wave (2014), Kreisberg Meets Veras (2018) with Nelson Veras, and Capturing Spirits: JKQ Live! (2019). Jonathan Kreisberg continues to tour worldwide and plays the Jazz Festival circuit. He has been a music teacher for over 25 years and has released a series of instructional videos as well as penning Offerings of Note, a book of compositions and transcriptions, in 2017.
