Lee Joo-heon, widely recognized by his stage name Joohoney, is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. He was born on October 6, 1994, in Nam-gu, Daegu, South Korea. Before gaining prominence as a member of the boy group Monsta X, formed through Mnet's survival show No.Mercy in 2015, Joohoney was part of a project group called Nu Boyz in 2014. As his career kicked off, he featured in tracks like "Coach Me" and took part in the soundtrack for the South Korean drama Orange Marmalade. In 2015, Joohoney auditioned for Mnet's rap competition show Show Me the Money and made it to the third round. The following year, he was a producer on JTBC's hip-hop competition show Tribe of Hip Hop. By 2017, he released his solo music video "Rhythm," followed by his mixtape DWTD in 2018. The mixtape charted in several countries and made it to Billboard’s World Album and Top Heatseekers Album charts. In 2019, he served as a battle rap trainer on Produce X 101. In 2020, he released another mixtape called Psyche, which received attention for its emotional depth. Joohoney's career further diversified in 2021 when he became a DJ on MBC's Idol Radio. In 2023, he released an EP titled Lights that reached number 6 in South Korea. This was followed by the promotional single "Mountain Over the Mountain" as part of the 2023 Mountain Dew Campaign. Also in 2023, he released the song "HIP HOP" as part of the soundtrack for the Netflix comedy-drama series Behind Your Touch.
