Jorge Celedon

Jorge Celedón is a Colombian vallenato musician. He was born in Villanueva, La Guajira, on March 4, 1968. His uncle, Jorge Celedón, was a well-known singer and composer of vallenato music. Celedón began his musical career during his teenage years singing with his uncle's band Doble Poder. In the early 90s, he joined the vallenato group Binomio de Oro de América, first as a backup singer and then taking the lead vocalist role alongside Jean Carlos Centeno. During his stint in the group, Jorge Celedón lent his voice to hit singles like "Cómo Te Olvido" (1996), "No Te Quiero Perder" (1998), and "Olvídala" (1998), one of the most popular singles in the band's extensive discography. After recording seven albums with Binomio de Oro de América, Jorge Celedón teamed up with accordionist Jimmy Zambrano and kicked off his solo career in 1999. Since then, Celedón has released over a dozen more albums and has won numerous awards, including four Latin Grammy Awards for Son... Para el Mundo (2007), Celedón Sin Fronteras, Vol. 1 (2014), Sencillamente (2015), and Ni un Paso Atrás (2017), recorded in collaboration with Sergio Luis Rodríguez. In addition to his work as a musician, Celedón is also an active philanthropist who works with various charities that help children in need throughout Colombia.
