José Alberto Inzunza Favela, better known by his stage name Joss Favela, was born on December 10, 1990, in Guamuchil, Sinaloa. Lovingly dubbed "El Lujo de Sinaloa" ("The Luxury of Sinaloa"), he has made significant contributions to the regional Mexican music scene both as a singer and a prolific songwriter. Having written his first songs at the young age of 12, his talents were first showcased on a national scale in 2004 when he competed in the children's singing reality show Código F.A.M.A. on Televisa, finishing in seventh place. By age 14, he was already penning tracks for other artists and released albums under his name, such as La Reynalda and Andar Conmigo. Over the years, Joss Favela served as a songwriter for renowned artists including Julión Álvarez, Larry Hernández, and Gerardo Ortiz. His knack for crafting hits earned him his first Latin Grammy nomination for the song "Me Sobrabas Tú," performed by Banda Los Recoditos, and he has won the ASCAP Latin Songwriter of the Year Award three times between 2016 and 2018. In 2016, Favela released his breakthrough studio album Hecho a Mano, which included hits like "Me Gusta Verte Arrepentida" and "Porque No Te Enamoras." This album brought him significant chart success and was certified gold in Mexico. It also garnered him nominations at both the Latin Grammy and Grammy Awards. Following the success of his studio debut, Joss Favela released Caminando in 2019, which featured popular tracks like "Pienso en Ti" with Becky G and was certified gold in Mexico and platinum in the United States. Subsequent releases such as Llegando al Rancho (2021) and Aclarando la Mente (2022) continued to showcase his evolution as an artist through the singles "Gato de Madrugada" and "Yo Perdí." Apart from his studio work, he has also been a judge on several talent shows, including Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento and La Voz Kids. In 2024, "Somos," a collaborative track with banda act Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho, cracked the Top 40 of the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
