Jóvenes Clásicos del Son, a Cuban septet, is dedicated to revitalizing the classic Son cubano genre. Founded in 1994 under the direction of Ernesto Reyes Proenza, the ensemble showcases the timeless sounds of double bass, tres guitar, guitar, trumpet, congas, bongos, and a captivating vocalist. Since 1995, Jóvenes Clásicos del Son has shared the stage with renowned Cuban and international musicians, including Wynton Marsalis and Compay Segundo. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut album, No pueden parar, in 1996, earning them the title of Best Group of the Year in Cuba the following year. Continuing to be recognised for their artistic excellence, Jóvenes Clásicos del Son has received nominations at esteemed events such as CUBADISCO Awards, specifically in the categories of Sonera Tradition (2016) and Traditional Cuban Music (2009, 2007, and 2001). With a rich discography featuring albums like Fruta Bomba (1999), Tambor en el Alma (2003), and Menos jóvenes, más clásicos (2005), as well as Cantan en Llano (2012), El Bar de Paco (2015), and Clásicos de Fabré (2020), the septet continued to captivate audiences worldwide with the release of single "Paso Firme Vista el Frente," which featured the popular track "En La Viva" and in April 2023, Jóvenes Clásicos del Son re-entered the charts with their timeless hit "Café de Juanita", which peaked at number 18.
