Originally an English-language school band consisting of Simon Triebel, Jonas Pfetzing, Andreas Herde and Martin Möller, who left the group in 2000, Sunnyglade became the alternative German pop project Juli in 2001. Now joined by Marcel Römer as drummer and Eva Briegel on the microphone, Juli secured their first record deal in 2003. Commercial success followed in 2004: With "Perfekte Welle" , the five-piece formation immediately achieved a top 3 hit in Germany, which was awarded a gold record. The track heralded the debut album Es ist Juli, released in the same year, which went platinum and reached the top 10 in the entire DACH region - in Germany the album even reached number 2. With "Geile Zeit", "Regen und Meer", "Warum" and "November" , four more singles even made it into the singles charts. The band achieved similar success with their follow-up Ein neuer Tag, with the second album becoming their first number 1 hit in Germany. Juli, whose success is more than confirmed by awards such as the Eins Live Krone as Best Band or a Bambi in the national music category (both in 2006) as well as a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards as Best German Act, initially withdraw from the public eye. From 2008, however, Briegel and Co. began working on new songs, which they finally presented on their third album In Love in 2010. The album, which is preceded by the gold single "Elektrisches Gefühl" , becomes the band's next blockbuster and reaches fourth place in the German LP Parade, among other things. After Insel, which entered the German Top 10 again in 2014, Juli collaborated with Sesamstraße protagonists Ernie and Bert in 2017, alongside whom they produced "Komm endlich raus und spiel" , a variation on their track "Elektrisches Gefühl", released three years earlier. this was followed in 2019 by the single "Fahrrad ", which was followed two years later by an EP trilogy with Nacht, Da draußen and Liebe (all 2021).
