Julien Chauvin

Born in Fontainebleau, France on March 11, 1979. Julien Chauvin is a violinist and conductor specializing in a baroque repertoire on period instruments. He is the founder of the concert company Le Concert de la Loge, as well as the co-founder of the Cambini-Paris Quartet and the orchestra Cercle de l’Harmonie. He has also taught at the Conservatoire national de musique supérieure de Paris, the Conservatoire national de Lyon, and the École normale de musique de Paris. Chauvin studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands. In 2003, he won the International Competition for Early Music in Bruges. In 2004, he founded, he co-founded Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, who recorded several albums conducted by Jérémie Rhorer. Chauvin left the orchestra in 2014 and founded the ensemble Le Concert de la Loge, named after an 18th-century orchestra. They recorded albums including Haydn: La Reine (2016), La Poule (2017), L'Ours (2018) and Haydn: L'Impatiente (2019). They also participated in the recital Si J'ai Aimé (2019) by Sandrine Piau, as well as releasing the Symphonies de Salon program comprising the first symphony by Anton Reicha (1770-1836) and the Septet, Op. 20 by Beethoven. In 2020, they issued a volume of six scores by Vivaldi, Concerti per Violino VIII 'Il Teatro'.
