Jun Shibata

Jun Shibata (柴田淳) is a Japanese singer-songwriter praised for her emotive and poetic ballads. Born on 7 April 1978 in Setagaya, "Shibajun," as she is affectionally known, began her singing career in the late 1990s and gained recognition for her distinctive, fragile voice and heartfelt lyrics, which often explore themes of love and longing. She released her debut single "Boku no Mikata" (ぼくの味方) in 2001, breaking into the charts the following year with "Sore Demo Kita Michi." She went on to regularly place J-pop singles in the charts, from "Anata to no Hibi" (2003) and "Hanafubuki" (2006), which both went to number eight, to her 16th single "Futari," which went to number 15 in 2008. Over the years, a steady supply of albums also surfaced, from 2005's Top 10 effort Watashi to Brinicle (ブライニクル) in 2018. She returned in 2024 with a new album, 901Goshitsuno Obake.
