South Korean superstar Jung Yong-hwa, born June 22, 1989 in Seoul, began his show business career as a member of the pop rock band CNBLUE. His pale skin and his pretty face made him a breakout star. He would parlay the group’s success into a steady acting career. He had major roles on various television programs including 2009’s You’re Beautiful, 2010’s We Got Married, 2011’s Heartstrings, 2013’s Marry Him If You Dare, and 2014’s The Three Musketeers. He flirted with the idea of a solo music career, releasing two singles during this period including the 2011 Korean number 1 “For First Time Lovers (Banmal Song)”, which his character sang in We Got Married. He issued his solo debut, One Fine Day, in 2015. An attempt to evolve into a more mature sound than CNBLUE while retaining its pop appeal, it topped the Korean album chart and went top 5 in Japan. The title track also climbed to number 3 on the Korean pop chart. 20107’s follow-up Summer Calling reached number 3 on the Japanese album chart, and 2020’s Feel the Y’s City, nearly matched that feat, but stalled at number 4.
